Is this photo from AZ? I’ve been looking for morels, but no luck.

I went out this weekend and found an unidentified Amanita (looks like Amanita nivalis, but who knows) and Coprinus atramentarius along a creek in the Verde Valley. I also just saw Coprinus atramentarius growing here in Flagstaff at the base of an aspen on an irrigated lawn.

At least some things are starting to come up. it’s been a long winter…

Heh heh, nope, just some guy on Facebook posting a cute pic of his kid to one of the mushroom groups. From the Midwest somewhere. I’ve updated the caption to give him proper attribution.

I’ve had no luck as well. Have looked in the Verde Valley, Fossil Creek, Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, and in some of last year’s controlled-burn areas between Williams and Flagstaff over the past month. The winter was just too damn dry, I think.

Cool! Send pics via the contact page, would love to share them.

Yup! Sure has. I hear a strong El Niño phenomenon is in the works for this year, coming earlier than usual. Could be a good year or 18 months if so.
