This looks like a job some of our readers would enjoy: Camping deep in the backcountry of the White Mountains all through mushroom season, using climbing equipment to ascend to the forest canopy, and harvesting pinecones from Douglas fir, white pine, and Ponderosa pine before the squirrels and insects get to the seeds. The seeds are then germinated and the seedlings are planted in burned areas like the Wallow fire.
