Have you ever seen a “Mushrump”? These little humps or hummocks of pine needles are hiding lobster mushrooms that are about to erupt. We found vast numbers in the Ponderosa pine forest east of Pinetop last weekend.
So in the photo below, how many of these distinctive and tasty orange mushrooms do you think there are between the photographer and the hungry mushroom forager?
Super fun find!
EatingonTwoWheels, Fun at first then it became almost tedious since she kept finding them, seemed everywhere we looked was another area full of Lobsters popping up and waving at us screaming “come pick me” in their dayglo orange flashes. Still any day that you find so many edible mushrooms, enjoy the company your with, and even introduce a family to mushroom hunting, is a good day!
That should be “we kept finding them” darn autocorrect on Safari..
I’m familiar with the “too much of a good thing” phenomenon!
