Winter meeting question (Important)

Hi folks, sorry for the lack of updates recently. We’ll catch up on photos from the end of the season soon, but for the time being, I have a quick question for the readers of this site.

The leadership of the Arizona Mushroom Club has asked me to poll the readership here to see if they prefer the winter meeting to be scheduled for Thursday, December 10, or Saturday, December 19. The Saturday would be more convenient for those coming from out of town, while the Thursday may be better for those with kids on winter break from school or having other obligations so close to the Christmas holiday.

This is an important meeting. Our President, Dr. Chet Leathers, has expressed his desire to retire from active leadership and pass the torch to some of the rest of us, although he will be made a lifetime member of the new organization and designated the Founding President Emeritus, with a seat on the board of directors.

We’re also updating the organizational structure so as to be formally constituted as an Arizona non-profit corporation, for tax and liability purposes. We are preparing a set of bylaws for adoption, and will hold regular elections for the various offices established by the bylaws.

If you’re already on our Facebook group, you can vote for your preferred meeting date on the post that will be pinned to the top of the group page until Friday afternoon, 11/6.  If you’re on Facebook but not a group member, what are you waiting for? For those of you who are not on the Facebook site, please feel free to send your meeting-date preference directly to me:

By the way, if you have a vision for the way the club should operate going forward, and a desire to make it happen, we are very interested in hearing from you! I am serving on the ad hoc Organizing Committee and will be pleased to pass along your suggestions for drafting the bylaws, or put your name in for nomination to one of the executive offices or committees.
